The festive season is a time of warmth and celebration. This December at Rowanbrook Care Home in Walsall, our residents are getting into the Christmas spirit with a full calendar of activities. It’s our very first Christmas which makes it all even more special!
“Our team have put a lot of care and thought into every part of the plans for our first Christmas, designing everything to be as accessible and meaningful as possible for everyone. We fully consider the needs of people living with dementia and complex health needs, so that we can make sure everyone enjoys themselves and feels included.” – Bo, Care Home Manager
Decking the Halls
We started the festive season with a flurry of excitement as residents joined our staff to decorate the home for Christmas. Twinkling lights, paper chain garlands, and Christmas trees have transformed Rowanbrook into a magical festive space. These shared moments of creativity and collaboration have filled our home with smiles.
Christmas Crafts and Treats
Our residents have been embracing their creative sides with a variety of festive craft sessions. From making personalised Christmas baubles to designing mitten ornaments for the tree, these activities encourage imagination and dexterity, as well as feeling very Christmassy indeed!
We’ve also enjoyed a chance to bake and taste our own festive biscuits. It’s been wonderful to see the pride and delight these simple moments bring.
Festive Fun with Elf Day
This year’s Elf Day brought a sense of fun and mischief to Rowanbrook. Staff, residents and even a four legged friend dressed in their best elf themed attire, spreading smiles and laughter throughout the home. Activities like tea and Christmas chats added to the cheerful atmosphere, creating a day to remember.
Christmas Jumper Day and More
On Christmas Jumper Day, everyone was invited to wear their most festive knitwear and we enjoyed carol singing with family and friends for a day filled with music, laughter, and festive cheer.
Christmas Traditions and Parties
Our residents are looking forward to a special Christmas party on Christmas Day, with music, festive games, and delicious food. The highlight of the celebrations will be a visit from Santa himself, bringing gifts and plenty of smiles.
On Christmas Day, we’ll gather for a traditional feast, bringing together our residents, staff, and loved ones to celebrate over a tasty meal. Christmas dinner is a heartwarming time of togetherness and we are all very much looking forward to it.
Ringing in the New Year
To close the festive season, we’ll celebrate with a New Year’s Eve Party complete with music, tasty treats, and the company of friends and loved ones.
Spreading the Spirit of the Season
Christmas at Rowanbrook is about more than just decorations and festivities. Here, it’s about creating special moments that matter. Whether we are getting together for activities and events or doing something as simple as having a chat about the weather – everything we do works towards the overall wellbeing and happiness of our residents. If they have a wonderful Christmas, so do we.
If you’d like to keep an eye on what we’ve been up to, we’ll be sharing our festive activities over on Facebook. From all of us at Rowanbrook Care Home, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
