Extra! Extra! Read All About It: Rowanbrook Launches New Resident Magazine.

There is an exciting buzz at Rowanbrook this month as we celebrate the launch of our brand-new residents’ magazine, spearheaded by our fantastic new Activities Coordinator, Darren! This vibrant publication is packed exclusively for our residents, brimming with interesting facts, delightful jokes, engaging puzzles, birthday wishes for residents, and sneak peeks of upcoming events.

The magazine’s purpose is simple yet profound: to keep everyone fully informed about the month’s happenings and provide a stimulating read for those who enjoy it. For residents who might need a little extra help, our care team or Darren will happily read the magazine to them, ensuring everyone feels connected and involved.

Darren’s vision for Rowanbrook is already taking shape. Beyond the magazine, he is busy arranging a diverse calendar of events, including planned monthly trips to the Memory Café. Our residents can look forward to regular visits from singers – with two already lined up for July – plus the joy of our Rowanbrook social dogs visiting three times a week, and “Work Out Wednesdays” to keep everyone active. Darren is truly looking forward to getting to know each resident and tailoring events that bring them joy.

Darren brings a wealth of experience to his role. Before joining Rowanbrook, he served as an Activities Coordinator at another care home, following an impressive 21-year career in the Armed Forces with the Royal Artillery. Adding to his varied background, he is also a certified dog trainer, Mantrailing Instructor, and Scentwork Instructor! His unique blend of skills and dedication is set to enrich life at Rowanbrook for everyone.

Home Manager Bo Micu said, “We’re thrilled to have Darren join us. His introduction of the residents’ magazine profoundly enhances the sense of community at Rowanbrook – it is something for the people who live here to share and enjoy – together. We believe engaging, diverse activities are critical to our residents’ overall well-being and their experience here.”
